Hemispheric Dysfunctionalism and the Cortical Titanic

The latest from Michael Merino:

Hemispheric Dysfunctionalism and the Cortical Titanic is a multidisciplinary performance piece that addresses the dichotomy between perception and cognition and the structures by which information is disseminated and interpreted. Using the incident of the Titanic's maiden voyage, the work explores the themes of intellectual and technological achievements and the foibles of the species.

With the ship itself as a metaphor for the damaged brain, the story illustrates the fragility of the human condition and the vainglorious attempts to subject nature, to surpass the deity, and to defy common sense. The work involves a large ensemble, musicians performing period-inspired music, vocalists and dancers.
